Juniper berries have been used for flavoring food and beverages for centuries and are still used for these purposes today. The seed cones, or what we know as “juniper berries,” are used to flavor stuffing and sauerkraut in Europe, as well as ale and gin. Oil produced from the fruit is used topically in aromatherapy and massage to help counter anxiety, joint and muscle pain and inflammatory skin conditions.
Our juniper berry oil is obtained by solvent extraction and is a mixture of essential oils, isolates and aroma chemicals. Some examples of naturally-derived isolates and aroma compounds include myrcene, a-pinene, b-pinene, 1,4-cineole, limonene, nerol and linalool.
