Chaga is an unusual species of parasitic mushroom found growing from the bark of birch trees in cooler climates of the world, including Russia, Poland, Siberia and northwestern North America. Due to its bitter compounds, it is not generally eaten fresh as many other fungi, but organic chaga mushroom powder is used in the supplement and tea industries. The powder may also be tinctured or made into extracts.
