lavender brownies

½ cup butter (not margarine)
⅓ cup lavender-vanilla syrup (click through for recipe)
1 cup chocolate chips
2 eggs
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¾ cup flour
⅓ cup cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 ½ tablespoons dried lavender flowers

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. While the oven heats up, grease and flour a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
  2. Gently heat the butter and syrup in a saucepan and stir to blend together, then stir in chocolate chips until melted.
  3. Transfer the chocolate mixture to a large bowl. Add eggs and sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla, flour, cocoa, salt and lavender flowers and mix well.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely, then cut into squares.
