Radish seed: A Bit of Botany
a little botanical information about radish

description
The radish (Raphanus sativus) is an edible root vegetable of the Brassicaceae family.

Radish color ranges from white to red. Radishes themselves are round to cylindrically shaped. A longer root form grows up to 15 cm (6 in) long, compared to the smaller, rounder form. The sweet tasting flesh will become bitter if the vegetable is left for too long in the ground.

Radish leaves, have a lyrate shape and are arranged in a rosette, with sizes ranging from 10–15 cm (4–6 in) in small cultivars, to up to 45 cm (18 in) in large cultivars. The leaves are divided pinnately with an enlarged terminal lobe and smaller lateral lobes. Their white flowers bloom on a racemose inflorescence.
