Barefoot Venus Origin Story

The Mustard Bath began with a simple recipe our mother used in Ireland, a warming remedy passed down for comfort and care.

We’ve carried that tradition forward, blending it with mineral salts and essential oils into a ritual that still feels like home, one soak at a time.

Biggest Risk Taken?

Mustard isn’t typical in bath and body, and we chose to lead with it anyway. It meant stepping away from what felt expected and believing in something simple, effective, and deeply rooted in helping people understand something unfamiliar.

Mustard in a bath isn’t what most expect, so we’ve had to gently guide customers into the experience and build trust in something that feels different at first, but becomes a favorite once it’s felt.

What inspired you?

Our inspiration came from a simple recipe our mother used in Ireland, a time-honoured way to bring warmth, comfort, and care.

We were drawn to the idea that something so humble could hold so much feeling, and we set out to honour that, turning it into a ritual people could return to again and again.

What are your product goals?

Our goal has always been to create products rooted in care, using high-quality ingredients that feel good, work beautifully, and become part of everyday rituals.

We don’t have one “ideal” product. For us, it’s about creating a collection that’s consistently loved, trusted, and quietly sought after, the kind people come back to again and again.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

Our parents were both entrepreneurs and small business owners, and the best advice we received came from them. To stay true to what you believe in, take care in what you create, and let the work speak for itself.

That foundation shaped everything, and over time it’s grown into a family business, owned and operated by three sisters.

Founded by three sisters, Cindy, Myra, and Lisa. Cindy leads ingredient research and sourcing, Myra shapes the design, and Lisa cares for every customer connection.

Around them is a small, thoughtful team. Anna keeps everything moving as our diligent shipper. Rielle supports design. Sierra brings it all together online as our Shopify and e-commerce expert. And Deanna and Andrea lovingly craft the products you reach for every day.
