This is a classic slow cooker recipe that tastes as good as it sounds. It's easy to make too...as easy as pie!
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 2 teaspoons ground cloves 2 teaspoons ground allspice 5 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted 4 cups water 1 cup apple cider ⅔ cup golden raisins chopped walnuts for garnish (optional)
Place apples in slow cooker and drizzle the melted butter on top. Cover and cook on low for 2 ½ to 3 hours, or until the apples are soft and the juice is brown and bubbly. With a fork, mash down any large chunks of apple. Add the water, cider, spices and raisins. Replace lid and cook for 2 more hours. To serve, ladle soup into bowls and top with walnuts, if using.
