Red sandalwood is a small to medium-sized tree in the pea family that is native to India, specifically to the southern region of the Eastern Ghats. The tree is harvested for its prized red timber, which has been used in furniture making and construction for centuries. The wood is also used in Ayurveda, the traditional system of healing in India, and to produce a red dye.
