Rhodiola Is a flowering perennial in the stonecrop family that is native to the mountainous Arctic regions of eastern Europe, Central Asia and eastern North America. The young leaves are cooked as a vegetable much like spinach or eaten raw with other salad greens. Due to a high concentration of antioxidants, Rhodiola root is regarded as an adaptogen, which means that it supports the body's ability to resist physical, environmental, and emotional stress to retain homeostasis. As such, the powdered herb is consumed as a food additive or in capsule form. Powdered Rhodiola root is also used topically to inhibit oxidative damage and encourage cell turnover to combat the signs of aging.
