Glucosamine sulfate is a type of natural sugar found in cartilage and in the synovial fluid that cushions the joints in humans and animals. Glucosamine sulfate powder is produced from chitin, a precursor to glucosamine extracted from the exoskeletons of shellfish and offered as a dietary supplement.
Powdered glucosamine sulfate is also used in lotions and in other skin care products.
