what else you should know

essential oil

Sandalwood essential oil is obtained from the heartwood of sandalwood trees that are between 40 and 80 years of age. The older the tree, the better quality the oil.

For centuries, sandalwood essential oil has been used for ceremonial purposes. While the Egyptians included the oil in their embalming practices, followers of the Hindu religion regarded the oil has sacred and holy. Today, sandalwood oil is still an important component of India’s traditional health system of Ayurveda, and is considered an aid in meditation and in Tantric yoga.

Sandalwood's fixative properties lend it to being used as an ingredient in personal care items such as soaps, lotions, shampoos, and bath oils.
