Avocado oil is obtained from a tree in the laurel family that is original to Central America and Mexico. While the avocado fruit is commonly prepared as a dip or served in a salad or sandwich, the fat-rich oil is used in massage and to make skin and hair care products.

what else you should know

carrier oil

Avocado oil is abundant in vitamins A and E and essential fatty acids, most notably oleic and palmitoleic acids, making the oil ideal for dry, sun-damaged or mature skin. It also contains a significant amount of lecithin, which attracts and holds both water and fatty substances.

Avocado oil is unique among carrier oils in that it is not pressed from the seed of the fruit, but from the pulp that surrounds the seed or “pit” instead.
