turmeric tonic with ginger and lemon recipe

Loaded with antioxidants and vitamin C, this tasty tonic is a great way to start the day or the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

2 ½ cups water
1 whole lemon, sliced
¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
¼ teaspoon ground ginger

Bring the water to the boil in a small saucepan. Turn off the heat and add the lemon slices, turmeric and ginger, stirring once or twice. Let steep for 30 minutes. Strain, reserving liquid in a glass container or individual mugs. Serve as-is or over ice, if desired.
