It was valued because it was thought to magically cure people of illnesses. While that is no longer believed by herbalists, mullein is known to help treat coughs and chest congestion. It also helps to treat wounds and help them to heal. Applications: Expectorant/Emollient Mullein is primarily used as an expectorant. Expectorant: Mullein helps to thin mucus and reduce chest congestion. It helps to make coughs more productive. Wounds: Mullein can be used to help wounds heal when applied externally. Ear infections: Mullein may be combined with olive oil to treat ear infections. Hemorrhoids: Mullein may be combined with olive oil to treat hemorrhoids. Description: Dosage: As an infusion, combine 1-2 tsp herb with 1 cup boiling water. Infuse for 10-15 minutes and drink 3 times daily. As a tincture, take 1-4 ml daily.
